About the Workshop Presenter
Hi, I'm Karida, and I am a professional dancer, dance educator, artist-in-residence, and trainer of tap dance teachers.
My performing credits include
Radio City Rockettes,
Cirque du Soleil, and
Dorrance Dance.
My experiences as an educator include:
* Pace University Commercial Dance Program (Professor for Tap Dance),
* Broadway Dance Center in NYC (Tap Dance Faculty),
* Tap festivals across North America
* Various dance conventions
* 17+ years of recreational & competitive dance studio teaching
* Guest performer & lecturer in K-8 schools, providing a historical perspective and social context for Tap dance and Body percussion (since 2016).
In 2018 I founded the Tap Teachers' Lounge - an online training program for Tap dance teachers in the dance studio setting.

None. I am not registered with any political party. This is not a presentation motivated by partisan politics.
This seminar is for those who have a sincere desire in their hearts to move towards a more just and unified society.
This encore presentation will give more insights to those who:
1) Have Black students, collaborators (or People of Color in general), and need to get a better context of what they may be experiencing, and discover ways to support them.
2) Are generally unfamiliar with matters of racism, and have a sincere desire to learn more
3) Recognize that they may be mis-informed on some race matters, and are sincerely interested in gaining a clearer perspective
4) Are informed about the basic aspects racism, but are looking to gain deeper context and insights
1) People who are not willing to expand or change their perspective
2) People who want to engage in partisan political arguments that distract from the humanitarian Issues that transcend party lines
3) Anyone who is unwilling to engage in discussion that respects everyone's human dignity. We can disagree without resorting to disrespect.
4) Anyone who is wants to say inflammatory things to start "arguments for sport", while others are trying to have serious dialogue. #NoTrolls
This presentation will be a replay of the Part 1 seminar that was given on June 6th, and will last about 75-90 minutes, and there will be some time for Q&A afterward.
Throughout the recent crises, I've encouraged dancers and dance teachers to maintain the value of their work, so I'm taking my own advice!
This presentation will be based on my professional work as an artist-in-residence that I've been doing since 2016.
I've kept the minimum contribution very low ($10), to make it accessible to as many people as possible. $10 is below the value of the seminar, so feel free to contribute more if you wish!

While this is a conversation about making the world a more just and safe place for our children, I want us to be free to address sensitive material in a way that is more suited to a mature audience.
I do believe that high school aged students are capable of handling the content, but 15 is the minimum age I feel comfortable with.
Parents of younger dance students are HIGHLY encouraged to attend, and then decide what & how to share with their children.
